Children at a school in Streatham won’t be starting the new term as scheduled next Wednesday after fire gutted their classrooms.

A blaze started shortly after midnight on Friday at Julian’s Primary in Leigham Court Road.

Around 40% of the roof at the rear of the school was affected and 50% of the whole building sustained water damage from sprinklers.

Lambeth Council says the school will be closed for at least a week from Monday.
