Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior’s rejected criticism that his team did not make enough of an effort to turn around their first leg deficit in the 4-2 EFL Cup semi-final aggregate defeat to Arsenal.

Kai Havertz’s stoppage time goal secured a 1-nil victory in last night’s second leg at the Emirates.

Former midfielder at the north London club Paul Merson felt there wasn’t enough in terms of attack from the visitors at the Emirates.

But Rosenior has defended their approach.
