Cambridge managed to secure the double with their Men’s and Women’s crews both wining at the boat race this afternoon.

It was the men’s third consecutive win, whilst Cambridge’s women claimed their eighth in a row, after a restart for a clash of oars.

Before the race, both university crews were warned of a heightened risk of exposure to E. coli bacteria along the route from Putney to Mortlake.

River Action spokeswoman Amy Fariman told the Mail on Sunday that downpours forecast this week could create further sewage outflows.
