Members of Unite say they are furious that not all elements of the new pay offer they have received from their employer are being backdated to their pay anniversary in December.

They claim this would mean drivers losing out on hundreds of pounds of back pay after First Bus bought the company earlier this year from RATP.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is underhand and disgraceful behaviour from a company making millions off London bus passengers. To try and refuse to pay money owed since December shows an utter lack of respect for its workers and the hard work they do day in, day out.

“Our members won’t stand for such behaviour and Unite will back them all the way in this dispute with a company that has a history of anti-worker behaviour.”

The ballot and will close on August the 11th.

Should workers vote for strike action they could walk out on the August bank holiday Monday affecting bus services during the Notting Hill Carnival.

These are: Fulwell, Hounslow, Hounslow Heath, Park Royal, Shepherds Bush, Stamford Brook, Tolworth and Westbourne Park. They operate approx. 90 routes including those running into and out of central London.
