Billions of pounds of taxpayer money is being “squandered” on housing asylum seekers in hotels, according to a group of MP’s.

The Home Affairs Committee says the current system is “chaotic and expensive” – as costs are expected to triple to 15-billion pounds.

Labour says it’s aiming to scrap using hotels by 2029.

Housing Secretary and MP for Streatham and Croydon North, Steve Reed, says they’ve made a good start but more has to be done.
