As tomorrow’s deadline for people to have their say on plans to redevelop the Motspur Park gas works approaches, Lucy Mayer talks with Kirstie Wilkins, Chair of Station Estate Resident’s Association about why they feel the proposals will “devastate” the community.

Following Kirstie’s interview, a Merton Council spokesperson said: “We have received an application from Berkley to build 586 residential units and ancillary residential facilities on a site that crosses the boundary between us and Kingston. Planning officers will consider the application in the context of Merton’s Local Plan and the London Plan and the representations of consultees before making any determination. The issues raised here will be considered by our Planning Committee, and it would be wrong for us to prejudge their decision.”
