Police were called to reports of an assault and criminal damage at an address on Matham Road just before midday on Friday.
During the arrest of the suspect, an officer was assaulted and sustained a head injury; the suspect was then tasered.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage, assault of an emergency worker, and causing grievous bodily harm.
