Police were called to the junction of Brighton Road and Woodfield Hill at 11:35am on Friday the 15th to reports of a pedestrian hit by a van.
The pedestrian, a 90-year-old man, was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition but died four days later from his injuries.
The driver of the van stopped at the scene; he was not arrested.
