18-year-old Alix Khansa was caught after being seen with a machete in the Town Centre on the 15th of September.
He pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in public and private, and breaching bail conditions and has been sentenced to 27 months.
Police praised the swift investigation and timely arrest, saying it shows their commitment to tackling knife crime.
