A supermarket worker who was stopped at Heathrow Airport with £1million in two suitcases has admitted money laundering.

48-year-old Mazen Al Shaar was stopped by Border Force officers in March as he was about to fly to Beirut.

Before the discovery, he’d claimed he only had £500 in cash on him and that he was leaving the UK to visit family.

Al Shaar admitted one count of money laundering and will be sentenced at a date to be confirmed.
