A school in Hammersmith is trying to raise £257,000 to restore the UK’s only known pipe organ by Belgian craftsman Hippolyte Loret.

Sacred Heart High School has the rare instrument, which is more than 160 years old.

It was saved from France in 1904 and rebuilt in the school chapel but has fallen into disrepair.

Experts have confirmed its significance, and the school hopes it will be restored for recitals and teaching.
