A project aimed at connecting South Londoners with four rare chalk streams has been given a £450,000 financial boost.

The South East Rivers Trust is looking to improve accessibility to the rivers Wandle, Hogsmill, Cray and Darent.

The money, from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, will support the development phase of the project until March 2027.

Around 85% of the world’s chalk streams are found in England.

But research shows they are often difficult to access or overlooked by the communities living nearby.
