A prisoner who fled custody twice in a week while receiving medical treatment has been detained in France.

Daniel Boakye first went on the run from West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth and was apprehended the next day.

Five days later, he went on the run again while being treated at Lewisham Hospital.

Police believe the 21-year-old was smuggled out of the country in a lorry before being tracked down in Brittany.
