Ginger Bees in Queen’s Promenade closed yesterday with owners Gavin and Beth saying the move is permanent.

There is no explanation into the sudden demise of the bustling café or what will open in its place.

Statement from Ginger Bees on Instagram;

“The post we never wanted to… post…

“Beth and I (Gavin), are devastated to announce that Ginger Bees Café will be permanently closing down. 😢

“There’s no way to not sound super soppy, but it has truly been an honour to serve this community and be a small part of your lives. Getting to know you guys; becoming friends 😳 , watching your babies grow. Having a baby of our own. Being a safe space for you to come and unwind. Celebrating good news with you, as well as being shoulder for you to lean on when times are hard.

“So thank you. Thank you all for being the best customers we could ever wish for. Especially thanks for supporting us through the harsh, wet winters, through covid, through all the tough times.

“Thank you to all the staff members we’ve worked with over the years. We’ve been incredibly lucky to have you on our team. A massive, HUGE thank you to Dolly and Robyn, who this will affect just as much as us.

“When we first started this venture, we had a very simple mission; to create an environment where everybody feels welcome, a ‘home away from home’. And we feel a sense of pride that we were able to achieve our goal.

“We will miss you all. Keep your eyes peeled to see where/ when Ginger Bees will come back.

“Be careful who you trust.

“Above all, look after yourself, your family’s and this amazing community.

“Gavin & Beth”
