A new study at The Royal Marsden has found that whole-body scans can predict the chance of relapse in cases of multiple myeloma.

Some patients in the study showed signs of the disease, a type of blood cancer, which wasn’t always detected on other tests and scans.

This helps clinicians to understand how a patient is responding to treatment and tailor their care accordingly.

Whole-body MRI’s have been adopted for some patients at the hospital and could become a standard way of monitoring patients.
