Temporary road closures will be enforced to allow the Playing Out scheme to run, closing side roads to traffic for three hours at a time.
Residents who want to take part need to get the agreement of their neighbours and find and train volunteer stewards to man the closure.
Councillor Clive Woodbridge says this will “help support the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of children and the community”.
