The shared building will be in Central Parade subject to planning approval.

It will provide self-contained apartments with communal areas, shared kitchens and a 24-hour concierge for additional safety.

The facilities will enable young people to learn life skills such as managing finances, setting up utility accounts and cooking.

They will also have access to training for employment to gain work.

The YMCA will provide support to the residents.

It’s hoped that the time they spend in the shared house will enable them to transition into independent living.
