A new generation of ash trees, growing in woodland, are showing greater resistance to the destructive ash dieback disease compared with older trees

Researchers at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Queen Mary University of London say natural selection is acting to fight the fungal disease that has devastated ash trees across Europe.

The scientists say the evolving resistance offers hope for the long-term survival of the species.
