A new device implanted into people to stop severe acid reflux has been given to patients in the UK at a hospital in Kensington.

Imperial College London and University Hospital Southampton are the first NHS trusts in the country to install the RefluxStop.

It’s fixed to the upper part of the tummy to stop contents from the stomach flow backing into the oesophagus – the long tube that carries food from the throat.
