STEP stands for Suicide Trauma Education Prevention.

Its aim is to create awareness of the daily trauma officers face in their day-to-day jobs and pinpoint where they can access help and support.

There were 242 suicides of current police officers and PCSOs in England and Wales between 2011 and 2022.

Three were in the Surrey Police force.

The campaign will be lobbying Chief Officers, MPs and Police and Crime Commissioners to provide better support to front line officers.

Anyone who feels they may need extra support can contact Samaritans on 116 123.
