It’s after a woman in her 20s died at a house in Woodthorpe Road yesterday lunchtime.
Officers were called following a report of a concern for safety at the location.
The woman and a two-year-old girl were found at the address with serious injuries and the woman died at the scene.
The child has been taken to hospital for treatment.
A man in his 30s, known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Senior Investigating Officer DCI Kimball Edey said,
“This investigation is in its early stages and a team of specialist officers are working around the clock to gather as much information as possible.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims at this unbelievably difficult time.”
