Police were called to Lyons Court shortly before 11.40am yesterday by Surrey Fire and Rescue who had conducted a welfare check.

A man in his 50s from Dorking was arrested last night on suspicion of murder.

He remains in custody.

An investigation, led by Surrey Police and Sussex Police’s Major Crime Team, is underway to establish the circumstances of the man’s death and enquiries remain ongoing.

Detective Inspector Dom Yelling said: “The investigation is in its early stages, and a specialist team of officers are working around the clock to establish what has taken place. At this time we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider public.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time. We would like to thank local residents for their cooperation as we conduct our investigation.”
