A memorial plaque has been unveiled outside the home of one of Hammersmith’s most beloved residents.

It commemorates Fred Thompson, a member of the Windrush generation, who recently died at the age of 93.

When he arrived in London from the Caribbean, Fred had trained as a tailor and shoemaker but later retrained as a plumber.

He had 19 grandchildren and the plaque in Thorpebank Road was installed following a request from the community.
