53 year old Michael Exposito smashed a window to steal cash and a charity donation tin during the Bank Holiday weekend in April.
He tried to hide his face with a bag and wipe away evidence, but forensic officers recovered his DNA at the scene.
Exposito pleaded guilty and has been jailed for 18 months and ordered to pay a fine.
