Officers were called to Stanwell Moor Road in July following reports of a collision involving 35-year-old Ardit Shehi and a biker.
Witness dashcam footage showed Shehi overtaking a van and then continuing in the wrong lane before hitting his victim.
He’s been handed 3 years and 4 months in jail and disqualified from driving for nine years and eight months.
Investigating officer DC Matt Lloyd from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said,
“Choosing to carry out dangerous manoeuvres like Shehi did here put not only himself, but all other innocent road users at risk, with truly devastating repercussions for the victim, who sustained serious injuries that will require care for the rest of his life.
“This tragic case had an entirely avoidable outcome, and I urge all motorists to think before you act when travelling on our roads. The family of the injured man also wanted to extend their thanks to everyone who assisted him after the collision, including members of the public, ambulance and police.
“I hope that Shehi spends his time behind bars reflecting on the consequences of his actions.”
