Detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of Robert Hill, who died in May.

22 year old David Souttar from Clapham has appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded into custody.

He will next appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow.

Police were called to Woodbourne Avenue on Friday, the 16th of May following the death of 81-year-old Robert Hill.

Mr Hill’s death was not believed to be suspicious at the time. However, following new information, further enquiries were carried out that led to a murder investigation being launched.

Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing in Lambeth said: “Detectives from the Met continue to investigate Robert’s sad death earlier this year.

“I understand that this update may be a concern to those in the local area, please do speak with your local neighbourhood team who are there to support you.

“We would also like to ask the public for help, as we have been unable to identify Robert’s next of kin. If you knew Robert, or are a family member then please do come forward.

“This is devastating news, which is why we would like to speak with you and offer our support.

“The investigation and enquiries into the circumstances of Robert’s death remain ongoing.”
