Luke Belfield was born and raised in Chiswick and is attempting to become the first known person with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis to swim the English Channel solo in less than 3 weeks time.

There will be no wet-suit, no boat contact and all of Luke’s swims are completely self-funded.

Juvenile Arthritis affects around 12,000 children and young people in the Uk.

Luke came into the Jackie studios to talk to Phillip Barr about the difficulties of having this ailment at such a young age and what he hopes swimming across the channel will do to help those with the condition.
