A group of MPs, including Richmond Park’s Sarah Olney, want utility companies to guarantee road repairs for up to 5 years.

The Transport Committee is also calling for the introduction of a new watchdog to manage disruption caused by works to pipes and cables.

Under current rules, firms are responsible for road surface quality for 2 years, or 3 in the case of deeper excavations.
