Seema Misra was sentenced to 15 months in jail in 2010 while pregnant.

She continues to campaign on behalf of the sub-postmasters and received her honour for services to justice.

Campaigners Lee Castleton, Chris Head and Jo Hamilton have also been recognised for their services to justice.

There was also an OBE for Kingston’s Joanna Killian for services to local government through Surrey County Council.

Among the other honours in Surrey there were MBEs for Erica Lockhart for services to adult social care in Leatherhead and Richard Wilson for services to the landscape and heritage in Chertsey.

Linda Heggs from Epsom has been made a dame for services to Industry.

Meanwhile, former England manager Gareth Southgate and actor Stephen Fry have been knighted.

Children’s author Jacqueline Wilson becomes a dame.
