Patrick Mann was just 35 at the time of his cardiac arrest two years ago.

He had been playing with his three year old son Oliver at home when he suffered a cardiac arrest at Christmas 2022.

A cardiac arrest is when a person’s heart stops pumping blood around their body and they stop breathing normally.

It’s different to a heart attack when one of the coronary arteries becomes blocked.

Only 8% of people that have an out of hospital cardiac arrest will survive.

It took five shocks from a defibrillator to restart Patrick’s heart.

The ambulance crew then took him to St George’s Hospital in Tooting where he stayed in a medically-induced coma for about 3 days.

In total, Patrick spent 19 days in St George’s Coronary Care Unit.
