A fatberg believed to weigh about 100 tonnes has been discovered in the sewers of Whitechapel in east London, just weeks after one was discovered under Feltham.

Thames Water says the extraction of the blockage could take “weeks to complete”.

It was only back in September that the company cleared a 100-tonne fatberg from a sewer in Feltham.

The blockage consisted mainly of wet wipes and held together in a solid form by fat, oil and grease.

It was the equivalent of 8 double-decker buses and more than 10 metres below street-level taking more than a month to remove.
