Sutton Council has closed 316 Malden Road which means that Cheam Priory Day Centre is unable to temporarily operate their services.
The Lib Dem run council says it is its intention to reopen the day centre and anyone immediately affected should make contact.
Statement from Sutton Council;
The Council knows this news may be concerning for those residents or families who use the Centre. The Council has taken this action because rent has not been paid and urgent repairs are needed to the building.
It’s important we are able to make sure the highest quality of services are being provided in a safe environment.
How long will the building be closed?
At this stage, we do not know how long the building will be closed for. It is the Council’s intention that the building should re-open.
The Council’s priority is to make sure that those who use the Centre continue to get the support they need.
Conservative councillors have issued a statement saying they are “astonished” no prior warning was given.
