A charity in Guildford has launched a £250,000 appeal to fund research into a vaccine to stop prostate cancer returning after surgery.

The Prostate Project is backing researchers at the University of Surrey on the treatment.

The vaccine would train the body’s immune system to spot and kill prostate cancer cells before they can grow again.

It’s been called “most important project yet”, with researcher Dr Guy Simpson saying it could save more than 1,500 lives a year in the UK.
