82 year old Ashgrove Care Home resident, Edward McLaren, served in the Merchant Navy at 17 before joining the Royal Horse Artillery in 1962.

His 10-year career included service in Kenya, Germany, and ceremonies at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.

Staff say Edward is an inspiration and a proud example of the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces.
