More than 4,000 drivers use Rivercourt Road daily and nearly 80% of them are commuters using it as a cut-through.
A new 18-month trial will use smart tech cameras to restrict non-Hammersmith and Fulham drivers from entering it.
Anyone using Rivercourt Road from outside the borough without a permit will receive a warning during the first weeks of the trial.
Following a grace period of three weeks, they will then receive a fine.
