The youth, who cannot be named because of his age, was arrested by police after the incident on December the 27th last year.
The teenager initially denied a charge of arson before later pleading guilty to the offence.
A judge ruled a charge of endangering life should be dismissed as he believed the defendant “was intending to try and harm himself.”
He’ll be sentenced next month.
