Thames Water says the damaged pipe on Hook Road has been fully exposed, and engineers are assessing the damage.
All customers remain supplied with water, although some may experience lower pressure while work continues.
Traffic restrictions remain in place on Hook Road and nearby roads while engineers work to complete the repairs.
Works are due to last until the 6th of November.
