The two-day conference, Late Bowie: Legacy, Mortality and the Archival Impulse, will take place early next month.

The event will provide new perspectives on The Next Day, Blackstar and Bowie’s late creative period.

David Bowie has deep-rooted connections with Kingston borough.

He launched his alter ego Ziggy Stardust at the now defunct Toby Jug pub in Tolworth in 1972.

Bowie died from liver cancer in his New York City apartment on the 10th of January 2016 just a couple of days after his 69th birthday.

He had been diagnosed 18 months earlier, but he had not made his condition public.

Keynotes will be delivered by Grammy Award-winning designer Jonathan Barnbrook, whose visual work helped define Bowie’s later albums including Blackstar, and representatives from the David Bowie Archive at V&A East Storehouse which opened to researchers last year.
