Kingston’s Council leader has spoken to Jackie News to give an update on the blaze which has left a number of businesses in the Ancient Market Place gutted.

Kingston Council has confirmed this year’s Christmas Alpine Village market will almost certainly return after fire tore through part of the Ancient Marketplace.

Fire investigators believe the initial blaze in the early hours of the 6th of October was caused by an electrical fault in a fridge.

A number of market stall holders have lost their businesses while shops including Lush and Hotter Shoes were also gutted.
