An event celebrating the work of women in science and technology has been held at the former home of Ada Lovelace near Leatherhead.

The countess, who wrote the world’s first computer program in 1843, lived at what is now the De Vere Horsely Estate.

Dr Jill Timms, is Professor of Sociology at the University of Surrey.

She says Ada is a true pioneer whose work is extremely relevant today.
