Ambulances in Banstead could get to emergencies faster, with work starting to reopen a gate giving crews direct access to the A217.

South East Coast Ambulance Service says this may also reduce traffic through nearby residential roads.
Work to widen the access and improve visibility starts on Monday 19 October.
It’s expected to take four weeks, with both lanes of the A217 remaining open.
