Lambeth Council has secured £6.6million of extra Government funding to tackle homelessness.

The authority says 4,100 households are living in “expensive temporary accommodation, which should be a last resort.”

Lambeth announced last week it was facing a further £93million black hole in its finances.

It says that’s because demand for services such as housing homeless families has gone up “dramatically without funding to match.”
