Wildlife Aid Foundation is in need of “soft release sites” for its fox cubs.
These are pieces of land where secure pens can be installed so the hand-reared cubs can be prepared for release back into the wild.
The charity says it has received more fox cubs into its care this year than ever before in its history.
Could you provide a soft release site?
🌿 A large, quiet, safe and suitable area, free from disturbance for 4-6 weeks.
❄️Space to store frozen chicks and quail for the cubs’ food.
👤Visits would be limited to feeding and cleaning. There must be no handling or interaction with the cubs.
🍽️ Food & water: provide daily food and clean water.
👀 Monitor the cubs from a distance and report any concerns to WAF, immediately.
🏞️ It is essential that any release site is on private land with no public access, and WAF are contacted directly by the landowner.
🐾 Sites need to be within an hour’s drive of Leatherhead to ensure the welfare of the animals and to make releases practical for WAF team.
🚗 Site is a fair distance from busy roads.
