80% of people who have taken part in a survey say they do not want to see Surrey Police merged with neighbouring forces.

The questionnaire was launched by Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend.

The Government intends to scrap the current 43 force system in England and Wales under proposals announced in January.

Larger, regional forces would be created in their place.

Nearly 3,500 people took part in the survey.
