The Met Police says 243 people have been arrested during the first full day of policing at Notting Hill Carnival.

Ninety-seven arrests were made on approaches to the event, with the rest inside the Carnival area.

Police say 61 arrests followed live facial recognition identifications, with offences including drugs, weapons, assaults and sexual offences.

More than 7,000 officers are in force across west London, with police saying the vast majority of visitors have enjoyed the event safely.
