Council leaders are calling on the Government to strengthen its proposed tests for Heathrow expansion.

The likes of Richmond are warning the current plans do not do enough to protect residents from increased noise and pollution.

In a joint letter to the Transport Secretary, they say the Government has yet to properly make the case that a third runway is needed.

A 10-week consultation on the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement runs until Tuesday.
