Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has praised the leadership qualities of Joao Pedro, who is close to signing a new six-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old striker has been rewarded for a strong first year at the club.

Alonso says Pedro sets a great example with his “focus and desire”.
