A new data centre is to be built near Heathrow despite concerns about its water and energy usage.

Hounslow Council has approved the plans for the Haslemere Heathrow estate.

The applicant told a council meeting the electricity will come from outside of the borough and have no impact on its needs.

Approval is subject to a Stage 2 referral to the mayor of London.
