Thames Water’s Hogsmill sewage works in Ewell has breached its environmental permit on four counts.

The Environment Agency says it found inadequate storm storage could increase sewage discharges into the Thames.

An upgrade due last year is now not expected to finish until 2028.

Campaign group SOLAR is calling for tougher standards for new sewage infrastructure.
