All residents affected by a fire in Mitcham at the weekend have either returned to their homes of been found temporary accommodation.

Merton Council says it has closed the designated rest centre.

The authority says its officers are now working with firefighters to assess the structure of the building in Belgrave Walk.

Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters responded to a flat fire on Saturday.

A row of townhouses converted into flats were involved but no injuries were reported.
